Eintracht Frankfurt is set to reignite their pursuit of Nottingham Forest forward Arnaud Kalimuendo as the January transfer window approaches. After a loan spell at Frankfurt last season, Kalimuendo's limited playing time at Forest has kept interest alive.
Eintracht Frankfurt is re-evaluating their interest in Arnaud Kalimuendo, the Nottingham Forest forward, as they prepare for the upcoming January transfer window. The 24-year-old has emerged as a top target for the Bundesliga side following a loan stint at Deutsche Bank Park last season, where he scored six goals in 19 appearances.
Frankfurt had previously declined to activate a €27 million purchase option for Kalimuendo after his loan, citing the fee as too high for their budget. Efforts to negotiate a permanent deal over the summer also fell through, with Forest reportedly demanding over €30 million for a full transfer. Since returning to Forest, Kalimuendo has struggled for game time, primarily appearing as a substitute and yet to find the net in the Premier League.
Frankfurt's renewed interest comes as they look to bolster their attacking options, and sources indicate they may be open to negotiating another loan deal, possibly with an option or obligation to buy. Kalimuendo's current contract with Forest runs until 2030, which gives the club some leverage in negotiations, but his lack of regular playing time has impacted his market value.
As the January window approaches, Forest faces a decision on whether to retain a player who has not yet made a significant impact in the Premier League or to explore a deal that could benefit both parties. Frankfurt remains the most active suitor for Kalimuendo, and discussions could pick up as the window nears.
